Part of the ancestry journey is location the headstones and researching the cemeteries where your ancestors were buried.
Was it a private family plot on farm, a church cemetery, a dedicated cemetery for a specific organization.
While some larger cemeteries have the means to create an online database for those buried there, there are many that require the legwork (literally) to find the people buried there.
Headstone information also helps me confirm certain details such as birth and death dates as well as sometimes a look into that person. Headstones come in various shapes and size and sometimes contain pictures (these are the best to find).
I’ve spent countless hours in various cemeteries locating many relatives to put images to their profile on my family tree.
